Have A Perfect Saturday!

Have a perfect Saturday

Psalm 138:8 NKJV The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Did you know that God is working to “perfect” your life? The word for “perfect” there is the Hebrew word gamar which means to end, finish, accomplish, perfect; to come to an end, cease; to perform, fulfill. This verb occurs five times in the Oold Testament. Three times it refers to something or someone being cut off or brought to an end. Twice it refers to the completing, finishing, and perfecting of God’s work in one’s life. That is what it means in this verse as well as in the following verse.

Psalm 57:2 NKJV I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

In Psalm 57:2 gamar is translated as “performs”. The idea in both of these verses is that God is active in working in each of our lives to bring to pass His plans and purposes for us. He is intimately involved in the plan of our lives. The New Testament counterpart to these two verses is found in Philippians 1:6:

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Good – Greek word agathos which means good, in a physical and moral sense, and which produces benefits. The word is used of persons, things, act, conditions, and so on.

The work that God is doing in each one of us is to produce physical and moral benefits through our personal actions, conditions and the things that we come into contact with. God begins at birth with a personal plan for each one of us that He is working in our lives. It is to benefit us with His goodness as He works through the conditions of our lives, our actions and the things that we encounter. He will keep working in each of our lives until He completes, perfects and performs all that He has planned for us. He is faithful to keep His word.

I am so thankful that I am not the one responsible for the plans of my life. If I didn’t know the goodness of God and that He was working out a good plan for my life I would have a tendency to believe that the bad things that I have encountered were meant to hurt me, but that is quite the contrary. The bad things were meant to cause me to run to Him to wait on Him and to watch how He was going to turn that bad into something good.

Jeremiah 29:10-14 NLT “The truth is that you will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD, “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In this days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you,” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and bring you home again to your own land.”

God’s plan for us is a good one even though at times we go through battles resulting from difficult decisions and unfortunate experiences. His plan is to bring us through them and to restore what we have lost through them. His desire is that the difficult times would drive us closer to Him so we will find His place of refuge and safety. The Psalmist records that he would hide in the shadow of God’s wings until the storm had passed by.

Psalm 57:1 NKJV BE merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by.

God’s plan for us as His children is that we would walk in the steps that He has established for us to fulfill His good plan for our lives. We don’t know where those steps will take us but we can be assured that He will be right there beside us holding our hand and helping us back up when we fall.

Psalm 37:23, 24 NKJV The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.

Just like a little child does not know what the parent knows and has to depend on the parent’s ability to pick him up when he falls down and to be there to lead him by the hand to avoid danger and harm, so we are dependent upon the knowledge of our Heavenly Father to help us through the days that He has established for us. When we don’t understand we must trust that He has our best interest at heart and is working through His plan to bring us out into a better future; one that is filled with hope for His good to be done in our lives.

Are you struggling through a difficult time today? Does it look like the future ahead of you could not possibly be good? Take heart, my Friend, God knows where you are and has established your steps to complete the good plan that He has for you. Walk safely with Him, seeking Him for direction and take His hand for the assurance that He will not let you fall down and stay down. Thought the difficult times may come the God of eternity is there with you to lead you through it and bring you out to a better life.

Father, I thank You for ordering our steps and for fulfilling the good plan that You have for our lives. I know that when difficulties come You are right there beside me to hold my hand and lead me through them. Father, I pray for those who are going through difficulties right now that You would let Your presence with them be known in a special way so that they will know without a shadow of a doubt that it is You speaking to them, assuring them of Your presence. Father, guide them by Your Spirit into the better day that is ahead of them. Show them the way to take to walk in the goodness of Your plan for their lives. Assure them that there is a better day ahead and that whatever it is that is the difficulty in their life will come to an end just as it did for the Israelites who were in captivity when You told them about the good plan You had for their lives. Seasons come and go, Father, and I thank You for ushering them into a new season in their lives. Thank You for granting them safety under the shadow of Your wings until the storm passes by. In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen
