Romans 8:1 NKJV There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Condemnation comes from the evil one, the devil, Satan, also known as the accuser of the brethren. He accuses us to ourselves, to others and to the Father.
Revelation 12:10 NKJV Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”
You can tell which voice you are hearing by the tone and message of the voice. If it is condemnation, accusation, and offers no hope for redemption, then it is the voice of the enemy, the accuser of the brethren. If it convicts you of sin and gently prompts you to repent then it is the voice of the Holy Spirit and needs to be heeded. God paid the price for our sin through the precious body and blood of Jesus so that we could be free from the accusations of the enemy!
Romans 2:4 NKJV Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
The Holy Spirit woos us to repentance with God’s goodness, not with words of our unworthiness or condemnation for what we have done. The presence of the Holy Spirit within us has set us free to be ourselves, to be free from the dominion of sin and the accusations of the enemy.
Romans 8:2-4 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
The life that Christ Jesus died to give us sets us free from the principle, or law, of sin and death. We no longer are tied to sin. Before Jesus died for our sin we couldn’t help but sin. We were controlled by sin and had no other way out. But Jesus died that we might be set free from sin’s control. Now when condemnation comes to a child of God it is an immediate indication that the enemy is working in his/her life. Conviction is from the Holy Spirit and always comes with a way out of the situation; He always gives hope and a solution to the problem. If you have sinned, confess the sin to God, ask Him to forgive you and receive His forgiveness and cleansing. If it is condemnation, rebuke the enemy, resist the condemnation and know that God sees you through the blood of His Son. He sees you as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! Hold your head up high and go on with your life. The devil has no hold over a child of the King! We have the power within us by His Spirit to win over sin!
Seed from God’s word for today: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17; 21
Jesus was made sin for us. He didn’t just carry our sin on His back; our sin permeated His whole being! He BECAME sin that we might BECOME His righteousness! Sin in its entirety was crucified with Him so that we could become dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus! (Romans 6:1-14) Now when the devil comes with condemnation that you are no good or what you’ve done cannot be forgiven, tell him to go back to hell where he belongs! That is a lie from the pit of hell! Jesus took our sin and gave us His righteousness! The only time sin can have control over us is when we yield to it. We have the power within us, through the Holy Spirit, to resist sin and win!
Prayer for today: Father, I thank You for Jesus who was made sin that I might be made Your righteousness in Him! Thank You for the blood that You shed for me, Lord Jesus, and the price that You paid that I might go free! I choose today to rest in Your salvation; to know that I am free from the dominion of sin that I might live to You; that I might say “no” to the temptations of the enemy and “yes” to walking in the fullness of Your Spirit. Holy Spirit, I invite You to lead me through this day. Have Your way in my life and show me those areas that need Your special touch in my life. I am free in Christ Jesus to be all that Father has created and called me to be. Thank You for the power of Your Spirit within me to enable me to walk in Your ways, according to Your Spirit today, Father! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
