Contentment!

funnel

Philippians 4:11-13 AMP Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am. I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want. I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

Paul says that being content in every situation is in being satisfied to the point where we are not disturbed or disquieted in the state in which we find ourselves. Life has its ups and downs. There are good times and there are bad and either condition has its challenges. But true contentment is not allowing what is going on around me to disturb me, or knock the peace of God out of my heart. Peace is so important in being able to live successfully in this life and it comes through depending on Jesus. His strength gives us peace in the midst of the difficult days. Paul says that His sufficiency is not in himself but it is through the empowerment that Jesus supplies in him. He uses the word “infuses” in giving us the analogy of what it means to be strengthened with Christ’s sufficiency to meet the condition of our lives.

When I think of infusing something with something else I often think of a piece of meat being injected with a flavoring or seasoning. The meat has one flavor in it original condition but when it is injected or infused with the seasoning it changes the flavor of the meat. A roast is, in its original flavor, bland and not very appealing to the taste buds, but when you infuse it with a certain seasoning that flavor radiates throughout the whole piece of meat and gives it the flavor of the seasoning. When I think of how Jesus infuses us with His strength I often get a picture in my mind of Him standing over me with a funnel and pouring His strength into that funnel which goes into me, filling me with His empowerment to meet whatever challenge I have facing me. It is only through His strength, His sufficiency, that I am able to overcome whatever I am facing.

When I am infused with Christ’s sufficiency my life takes on His flavor. Suddenly things look differently and my perspective about my condition changes. His sufficiency enables me to make choices and decisions based on His perspective about my situation instead of the unstable condition that would normally influence my actions. Life becomes more balanced and stable because the circumstances surrounding my life are no longer disturbing and disquieting to me. I then reach the state of contentment!

Confession for today based on God’s word: I will rely on the strength that Jesus infuses within me to overcome the challenges of my day. I am filled to overflowing with His sufficiency that gives me the victory!

Prayer for today: Father, I thank You for the strength that You have for me that helps me to put my life in proper perspective. I ask You to fill me with Your sufficiency, Lord Jesus, to meet the challenges that I face today. I thank You for delivering me through Your strength and for filling my heart with contentment as I face whatever lies ahead of me today. May I continually focus on You and what You are doing within me to give me the victory! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Perfect Peace

Perfect peace

Isaiah 26:3, 4 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.

The key to staying in perfect peace is keeping your mind focused on the Lord. What you think about will either bring peace or unrest into your mind. This scripture gives us the key to having a peaceful mind and it is as we trust in the Lord and receive His strength that we can overcome the difficulties.

Sometimes something comes at you that just seems to hit you from out of nowhere. Maybe it is a bad report from the doctor, a bill that is unexpected, a relationship that has gone sour, or the loss of a job or unexpected death of a loved one. Whatever it is, within it is the ability to rob you of the peace that Jesus came to give you.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Jesus said His peace that He was giving us would not be the same as what the world has. The world’s peace is dependent upon what happens to us; our circumstances in life. But God’s peace is an inner satisfaction and contentment that is not dependent upon exterior circumstances. It is dependent upon where your focus is; what you are holding in your mind’s eyes.

Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled”. That means that we have to choose to not allow the circumstances of whatever it is that has come to steal our peace have the upper hand. The Amplified Bible says it this way:

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit your selves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed! We have a choice here. We can either allow the enemy to rob us of our peace and joy, or we can stop it. We have to take action in order for the unrest to stop. Do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled. When peace leaves, fear moves in. Do not permit it to happen! We don’t have to live in a fearful and unsettled state. Get your mind back focused on Jesus! Trust in the Lord, not in man.

Psalm 118:8 is said to be the verse that is in the center of the Bible. I have not counted them to make sure that is accurate, but that is what I’ve heard. This is what it says:

Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.

When it comes to what we are to put our trust in, there is no comparison to what the world can give you through another human being than what God can do for you. Our trust must rest in the Lord or we will live in a constant state of unrest. Trouble comes from all directions and has the ability to knock you off your feet and keep you in turmoil. But when your trust is in the Lord there is peace.

Father, I thank You for the peace that has been given to us through our relationship with Jesus. You’ve said in Your word that a person that doesn’t know Jesus has no hope and is without God in the world. Without You, Lord, there is no peace. Father, I pray for those this morning who may be outside of Your love and care, who are experiencing difficulties with no one to turn to. Father, I pray that they will turn to You and experience the peace that Jesus died to give them. Father, I ask You to touch their hearts, to bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus and give them salvation and peace. Father, I pray also for those who are going through difficulties that need to re-focus on You. May they see that it is only as they trust in You and turn their eyes away from the situation and onto You that You can restore their peace. Thank You, Father, for touching their hearts and giving them an assurance that You are working on this situation on their behalf. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

An Anchor For The Soul

Hebrews 6:1-20 (AMP) Accordingly God also, in His desire to show more convincingly and beyond doubt to those who were to inherit the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose and plan, intervened (mediated) with an oath. This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strengths and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us]. [Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it—a hope] that reaches farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil, Where Jesus has entered in for us [in advance], a Forerunner having become a High Priest forever after the order (with the rank) of Melchizedek.

John 14:1 (AMP) DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on ME.

Let not your heart be troubled, Child. Keep your heart focused on Me for I am the anchor for your soul. Have I not said that there will be life changing world events taking place in the time nearing My return? Yes, these things will come to pass. People will be lovers of themselves, having no regard for even family members around them; self-centered, thinking only of their own interests. There will be wars and rumors of wars; nation rising against nation and people fighting each other. These are all signs of the times you live in. But let not your heart be troubled. When you see these things happening know that My return is soon. Keep your eyes focused on Me; turn not to the right or to the left wondering what to do. Place your hope in Me for I will anchor your soul so you do not fly out of control in fear with the emotions that these occurrences will try to bring out in you. Fear is an enemy of your soul. Do not be anxious about anything but bring those concerns to Me in prayer and I will give you peace. Rest and trust in Me for I am the anchor that holds you steady in these last days. Do not let your heart be troubled.”

Father, I thank You for the assurance that You are the One that anchors our souls steady in the midst of the storms raging around us. Thank You for giving us peace when we bring our concerns to You. You are our God and we look to You for the answers to life’s questions. I pray this morning for my friends who are going through anxiety regarding what is happening around them. I ask You, Father, to heal the hurts in their hearts, bring restoration to broken relationships and give them peace. I pray, Father, for those who may be troubled by the world events that we see taking place every day. Father, Your word says that You created us, You know us, and You will provide for us. I thank You for the assurance that even though these things must come to pass in the last days that we can rest in Your provision for our lives. I pray for our nation and our leaders this morning that You will open blinded eyes and provide the direction that they need to lead our nation in the way that You would have us go. I pray that our people will turn back to You and proclaim You, once again, as the Rock on which we were founded. Father, I pray that You will direct Your people to pray for our nation’s leaders that we might live in peace and might glorify You once again in our country. Thank You, Father! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Perfect Peace

Isaiah 26:3,4 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trust in You. Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.

My people are in a turmoil. Their minds are running rampant with all kinds of fearful thoughts. Have I not said that a mind focused on Me will be at perfect peace? Focus your hearts and minds on Me and shut out all the distractions of the world. Look unto Me for the solutions to life’s problems. I am the Great I AM! I am Your Father and all is well in My Kingdom. There is no evil in My presence. There is no sickness or disease, poverty or lack with Me. I am your Provision. Do not look to the world for what you can attain from only Me. Come to Me; seek My will for your life. Seek My ways for they are righteous and true. Success comes only from Me. Live your life focused on Me and I will lead you into prosperity; spirit, soul and body. Prosperity is not what you can attain from a worldly source. It is an inner state of being at peace; peace with Me, with man and with yourself. It is a quality of wholeness that begins in the heart of a person. Have I not said that what is in the heart will reflect on the exterior of the person? Prosperity begins in the heart and is the state of peace that comes as your heart is focused on Me. It is only in Me that you can find true prosperity. Only I offer can offer a person wholeness. You can be healed of a physical illness through the medical ability of physicians, but they cannot make you whole. I am the One Who offers you wholeness. A person must come to Me to receive what only I can give. Come, just as you are and I will give you life, strength and wholeness.”

Oh Father, there are so many who are hungry for You; hungry to hear Your voice, to understand Your ways and to feel Your presence. Lord, I pray for them this morning that they will turn to You as their Source and Provision. I pray that they will open their hearts to You that You might fill them with life, peace, joy, and wholeness. Complete what is lacking in each one of us, Father. Mold our lives into the image of Jesus as You work in each of us. Bring us to the place of wholeness that we might be complete in You. Thank You, Father, for continuing to love us and for patiently dealing with each one of us as we have need. Lord, You understand that we are simply human beings with a limited understanding of what is going on in the world around us. We live in this world but as Your children our citizenship is in Heaven where You are. Father, help us to focus our eyes on You that we might not be distracted by what is happening in our world. Lord, there is no evil where You are. Father, I pray that Your will might be done on our earth as it is in Heaven. Let Your Kingdom come here on earth just as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Philippians 4:6, 7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Quiet Your Heart

Psalm 27:13, 14 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

“Quiet your heart before Me, Child, and wait on Me. Do not be discouraged when things do not move at your pace. My ways are different than yours. Still yourself and wait for My directions before you move out in action. Wait for me to lead you by the soft, gentle voice of My Spirit within your heart. You do not know the timing or the way of your path; but I do. I see into the future and know all things. Those who are Mine are called by My name and led by My Spirit. I will lead you in the way you should go. You will arrive right on time at your destination for I am never early and never late. Do not fear in putting your trust in Me, for I will never fail you or leave you to make decisions on your own. You are Mine and I provide for My own. Be strong and of good courage. Do not fear and do not follow your own feelings!”

Father, I thank You for watching over us and providing for our needs. I thank You for Your guidance and directions through life. You know all things and see all things. Thank You for directing us by Your Spirit within. I pray for those this morning who may be floundering around, wondering which way to go in a certain situation. I pray that You will still their hearts with Your peace. I pray that You will give them the assurance that You are working on their behalf, righting the wrongs and providing for their needs. Father, I praise You for Who You are! You are the Lord God Almighty. There is nothing too difficult for You. Thank You for taking care of our loved ones. Thank You for providing for their needs and protecting them from the evil one. Thank You for being GOD in our lives! I yield myself to You; to Your direction and to Your will. You know what’s best for each one of us and You will not fail us nor forsake us. We can trust You. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer this morning. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

The Value Of One

Matthew 10:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Matthew 10:29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. “Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

“I know all things and I see all things, Child. I know your life from the beginning to the end and everything in between. I created you for My honor and glory; to be a representation of Me in the earth in your lifetime. You are Mine. Do not worry about the future, but place your trust in Me for I am your future. I am the Beginning and the End of all things. Life in Me is what brings contentment into your life. Life apart from Me is void and empty.”

“Look unto Me and I will show you great and mighty things. But trust Me in knowing those things; that I know what is best for all of My children. Trust Me with those that you love that I will do what is best for them. I have their best interests at heart. Do not fear that I will not care for them. Do I not care for all of My creation? I care for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. Are not My children of more value than them? I will care for My own, Child. Do not worry that I will not be a good parent. Do not fear for their future. I am in control and I will do what’s best for them. Place them now into My hands and rest in peace knowing that I am watching over them.”

Father, I thank You for setting my heart at peace this morning. You know my heart and You see everything within it. Thank You for being My Father and for assuring Me that You will care for my loved ones. I place my brother into Your hands today as he undergoes surgery. You know what is best for Him and I trust you to care for him. I pray, Father, for those who may be anxious this morning for their loved ones. I ask You to give them peace in their hearts in knowing that You are caring for the ones that they love as well. Help us to rest in You, Father. As we cast our cares on You, Lord, give us the peace that passes all understanding. Thank You, Father, for Your love for each one of us. And thank You for loving us and bringing salvation into our lives that we might have our life in You.

Take Your Thoughts Captive!

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

“Do not fear what lies ahead of you, Child. For I have already gone before you and conquered the future. I led captive death, hell and the grave. They have no hold over you. I conquered them so you have no reason to fear. There is no weapon that is formed against a child of God that can prosper. Rise up and speak to that fear that comes against you. It is a spirit sent to harass you from the evil one. Put your trust in Me and speak to the mountain. Tell it to move, and leave, and it will do what you say. You have authority over the evil one for I have given you My authority. Do not allow him to steal any ground in your life. Declare the victory for I have already defeated your enemy. I conquered him when I went to hell on your behalf. I took back the keys to the kingdom and have given them to My church. You now have victory over every attack of the enemy. Rise up in My strength and power and go forth as the mighty army of God. Use your authority in prayer to stand against the evil one. Do not allow fear to rule and reign in your heart and mind. Take authority over the thoughts of fear, doubt and unbelief that he arrays against you. Stand firm in who you are in Christ Jesus and cast down any thought or imagination that plants fear in your heart. Do not entertain thoughts of evil. Think only on those things that are pure and lovely and of a good report. Keep your thought life pure and free from the corruption of the world. Do not allow the distractions of world events to take place in your mind. Keep your focus on Me for I am greater than any event or people group that would try to overtake you. Look unto Me for I am the greater One who lives within you. My name is higher than sickness and disease or war and strife. I am the Great I AM; able to conquer all things on behalf of My people. I have already defeated the enemy of your souls that tries to stir up trouble in your life. Now rise up as the mighty army of God and go forth in My power and strength for I have declared you to be victorious and able to conquer all things through Him who loves you!”

Father, I thank You for providing for our every need. You have given us the victory over the evil one. May we rise up as You have declared and go forth in Your power and strength to conquer the fears that come against us. I pray for those this morning who are experiencing mental anguish over things that lie ahead of them. I pray for them to be set free from the bondage of fear. I ask You, Lord, to release them from the grasp that the evil one is trying to use to hold them captive. Father, I ask You to show them how to stand against him; how to speak to the mountain that he has placed before them and how to conquer the storm that rages in their lives. Father, help them to speak only what Your word says for power lies in the the declarations that we make. Thank You for the victory, Father! May You be glorified as we enforce the work that You did on our behalf on the cross of Calvary. Jesus, you did not die in vain! We receive the victory already secured for us! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ephesians 4:8-10 Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended”–what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Isaiah 54:14 In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Mark 11:22-24 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. “For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Matthew 16:19 “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world.

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Friends, it is time for us to take a stand against the evil one, who comes to steal our peace, our joy and to destroy our lives. As I was praying this morning I felt a strong presence of the Lord to give a word from Him to dispel the lies of the enemy that he is planting in the hearts and minds of God’s people. This has been on my heart for some time now and it seems that God just keeps bringing it back to my remembrance. The Word says in that in the end times that men’s hearts will fail them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth. (Luke 21:16) It is important that we keep our focus on Jesus and stand on His word. When He speaks you can judge what has been said by the word of God. That’s how we know His voice; we hear what is being said to us and then we see if it lines up with the Word. That’s why I have included the verses at the end of the message from the Lord as I wanted you to see that God, the Holy Spirit, always speaks in alignment with His word. Take the weapon of the Word of God and use it to slash the enemy’s lies and refute his arguments that come against your peace of mind. Cast down those thoughts and bring them into obedience to the Word of God!
