Secret For Life’s Journey

“There is a secret to being content and satisfied in whatever state you are in, Child. It is found as you come to Me seeking the sufficiency that you need to meet the circumstances in your life. The ability to succeed in all things lies in Me and I will infuse you with the sufficiency to meet and exceed all things in your life. I will pour My strength into you as you come and rest in Me. Do not be afraid of what lies ahead of you. Just know that when you need strength I am here to full you up with all that I have. I will not let you go through life with insufficiency. You will have whatever you need to be content.”

“Do not worry about tomorrow for I have already faced your tomorrows and prepared for your sufficiency in them. I see your life from the beginning to the end in one full picture. You only see the past and the present, but I go before you into your tomorrows. I have already made provision for what you have need of. So when you get there just come to Me and I will fill you with the strength to meet the challenge. Do not try to meet life’s challenges through your own strength or ability. Come to Me and be strengthened. I will help you conquer all fear, doubt and unbelief that comes against you for you are My child, the apple of My eye. Do not fear what the enemy can do to you. Am I not much bigger than any foe that would come against you? Keep your eyes focused on Me for I am your help in the time of trouble. I will be with you; I will strengthen you and harden you to difficulties so they will have no power over you. You will be like a strong oak tree swaying in the breezes of adversity through My strength and power. You are My child; I have called you by Your name. I will go with you and help you. You will not be overpowered or defeated by life’s challenges. I am with you!”

Thank You, Father, for Your strength to help in the time of trouble. You are my stronghold; my high fortress and my deliverer. You are my help in the time of adversity. You are the great I AM; the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. You are more than enough for all that I need. Thank You for going before me into every situation that I encounter. Thank You for making provision for me and for strengthening me for my journey through life. I will not fear because You are my God. You are bigger than anything that I would encounter in this life and You are with me to help me. Thank You, Father, for watching over me; for protecting me from my enemies and for providing for my every need. To You be all the glory, honor and praise! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Refiner’s Fire

Father, as I see You I see my own uncleanness. Father, You are holy and set apart above the whole race of man. You are pure and clean and I am impure and unclean. Father, when I see You I see the magnitude of my sin. I see the impurity of my heart. Purify my heart, Oh God. Let it be as gold and purest silver. Purify my heart. May it be as gold, pure gold. Father, I realize that as You have said the tongue is like a raging fire and it sets the whole course of a person’s life on fire. Father, I ask You to purify my heart so my tongue will not spew forth evil things. I know that Your word says that the tongue speaks out what is in abundance in the heart. I ask You, Father, to fill my heart with good things that my tongue will spill forth fresh water, healing waters and things that will glorify You in my life. Touch my tongue with the fire of Your coals and purify it, Oh Father!

Isaiah 6:1-7 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away. And your sin purged.”

James 3:6-10 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole boy, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought now be so.

“Until a person can see the uncleanness within them they cannot be helped; they cannot be changed. A sinner who will not acknowledge his sin cannot be saved. But when that person comes to Me acknowledge their sin I free pardon and forgive them.

You are a work in progress, My Child. It is good that you have seen the uncleanness and impurity of your heart for I now can cleanse it and make it pure. Your eyes have been opened to see the poison of the asp in each person’s tongue. Do not yield it to the deadly poison that tries to come forth when you are under pressure. Pray that you do not enter in temptation for your flesh is weak even though your spirit is willing to do what is right. It is at those times that your enemy has placed a strategic attack against you to destroy your relationships with those that you love.

Yes, Child, the words of another cut deep within your heart. Their words are judged just like yours. I will deal with the heart of the other just as I have dealt with yours. Keep your eyes focused on Me. Do not let the words and actions of another detour you from following My commands and doing what is right in My sight. All things are laid bare before Me. Let Me be the judge and lawgiver. You are the created; not the Creator. I have cleansed your iniquity and removed the guilt of your sin. Go forth now, My Child, ever aware of the magnitude and weight that your words carry. Do not fall prey to the attack of the enemy, but stand firm against him resisting him through your faith.”

The Monster Within

Romans 6:16-19 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

We all have battles that we fight that often seem to be won and then we find them raising their ugly heads up once again. Paul fought for victory over sin and told about it in Romans chapter 7. After Jesus had won His battle with the devil in the wilderness the Word tells us in Luke 4:13 that the devil “departed from Him until an opportune time”. Our enemy knows our weaknesses and watches us to see when the “opportune” times are that he can come back and tempt us again. He thinks maybe this time he will win. I was praying one time about overcoming the temptation to eat simple carbohydrates that seem to set off a ravenous monster within me that only desires more, more MORE. This is what the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart.

Child, whatever you yield yourself to will control you. If you yield yourself to Me I will have control over you; but when you present your members to those things that are bad for you then they take control of you and lead you in the way that they want you to go; the way of death. I lead you in the way of life. It’s your choice; you choose this day whom you will serve. That which leads you to life or that which leads you to death. The controlling right comes as you make the choice.”

The thing that made the most impact on me in my response from the Lord is “the controlling right comes as you make the choice”. We are all presented with temptations, but we are not controlled by the temptations; we are controlled when we yield to the temptation and allow it to take over and lead us in the direction it wants us to go. When we make the right choices then we are lead in the right direction. The choice is the turning point in every temptation.

Paul experienced a problem with re-occurring sin in his life and wanting to do what he knew was right but having to fight the desires of his flesh.  The principle for victory that he describes over sin is found in Jesus Christ. It is the same for each one of us as we battle the temptations that arise in our lives. The flesh always wants self-gratification, but the Spirit will lead us to make wise choices that please the Father.

Romans 7:24, 25 NLT Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord…

He later said in Philippians 4:13 NLT For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.

Paul again described the way to live free from the lusts of the flesh in Galatians 4:16:

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

So what does Paul mean by “walk in the Spirit”? He means to walk yielded to the Holy Spirit’s direction in your life; always being aware that what you yield your flesh to will produce either good or bad in your life. He went on to explain that the works that the flesh produce are totally opposite to the good that the Holy Spirit brings into our lives.

So, as I continued to pray about the temptation placed before me this is what I heard the Lord say:

If you do not choose the food then it has no power over you, but when you open the door through your choice it will come in to accommodate your desire. Depend on Me for the strength to overcome and I will help you close the door on the addictive power of food. See yourself as the winner that I have created you to be. Make healthy choices and drive food addictions out of your life. I will help you for I know what foods your body needs to be healthy. Do not depend solely on your own understanding for I know the hidden additives in the food that trigger your own food sensitivities.”

God cares about the things that we care about. He is here through His Spirit to help us make right choices that will produce the desired results in our lives. But many times we try to win the battles on our own terms, through our own abilities. That’s not God’s way. He wants us to fight in the strength that He provides because that’s the only way to defeat the enemy for good.

Ephesians 6:10, 11 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

It is through God’s power that we win the battles. He knows exactly what type of weapons we need to fight effectively. But if we never consult Him for the strategy that will bring the victory we will continue to fight ineffectively and struggle with the attacks that the enemy brings against us.

Father, I thank You for showing me that the victory lies in staying in close contact with You regarding the food choices that I make. Thank You for giving me the victory through Your Spirit within me. I know that I can do all things through Your strength. Father, I pray for my friends this morning who may be struggling with temptations in their lives. I ask You to fill them with the wisdom and knowledge that they need to know how to win the battle before them. Father, by Your Spirit, give them the victory and show them how to fight effectively to win. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Who Is The Thief?

There are so many things in this world that I do not understand. But this one thing I know: that God is good all the time and the devil is bad all the time. Many times, unknowingly, people credit God with the devil’s activity in their lives. But the word says in John 10:10 that the devil has a plan for your life, just like God has a plan for your life. The devil’s plan is to steal, kill and destroy and God’s plan is to give you abundant life.

John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Again, James tells us in James 1:17 that God is the giver of good gifts.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

God gives good gifts! There is no “variation or shadow of turning” with God. That means that He doesn’t “change like shifting shadows” (NIV). He is not a Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, type of personality.

So, why would we think that something bad that has happened to us is from the Lord? Well, quite simply because we don’t understand that we live in a fallen world where the devil is the prince of the power of the air who goes about looking for people whom he may devour with his evil plans.

1 Peter 5:8 NLT Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour.

As long as we live in this fallen world there will be a war against the enemy of our souls. God created us as free moral agents with a will to choose to love and serve Him. But he does not force us to do that. Likewise, we are not puppets on a string controlled by Him as we go about our lives. We are given the freedom to choose how we want to live. When we live by our own standards and desires we often open the door for the enemy to move into our lives. The decisions that we make are not always in our best interests and because of the desires of the flesh we sometimes make choices that lead us to sickness and disease, unhealthy lifestyles and dysfunctional relationships. And then God gets the blame for what we as individuals have brought upon ourselves. Our choices affect the quality of our lives.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20 NLT “Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between prosperity and disaster, between life and death. I have commanded you today to love the LORD your God and to keep His commands, laws, and regulations by walking in His ways. If you do this, you will live and become a great nation, and the LORD your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy. But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy. “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live! Choose to love the LORD your God and to obey Him and commit yourself to Him, for He is your life. Then you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

God gives us the choice to choose “life and blessings or death and cursing” (NKJV). It’s our choice. But oh, how He desires for us to choose the life of prosperity or blessings! He doesn’t want us to experience the heartache that not walking according to His ways brings. That doesn’t mean that everything that happens to us is a result of disobedience or selfish choices. It simply means that God has planned a good life for us, filled with His blessings, and our choices often determine the outcome of our lives. We still live in a fallen world where the devil has freedom, for a time, to move about trying to steal, kill, and destroy. But God’s will for us is for good, not evil. When we experience the bad things, God will turn them around for our good if we will trust Him. He uses those things that we experience that are bad to help us learn how to overcome the attacks of the enemy.

Will you choose life today? Will you decide to close the door on the devil’s activities in your life by walking according to God’s ways? He is waiting for you to choose! He wants to bless you with the good life that He has planned for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Father, I thank You for the good life that You have planned for each one of us. I pray that we may see Your goodness in our lives and choose to live according to Your ways so we can close the door on the enemy’s plan for destruction. Father, give us wisdom to choose the right paths to walk, the best decisions to make and the most healthy choices for our lives each day. Thank You for the Holy Spirit that lives within me who helps me choose a healthy lifestyle. May each of us continue to seek Your will before making decisions that affect the quality of our lives. Thank You for Your blessings! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Peace–Great Peace!

Psalm 119:165 NIV Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

Peace—does it often seem to elude you? The Psalmist speaks of a way to have peace in your life. It is through loving the word of God. In speaking of loving God’s word it is with the understanding that when you love the word of God you live it out in your life. You learn it, love it and live it!

So, what is the Psalmist speaking of when he talks about peace? Well, the Hebrew word for “peace” in this scripture is the word “salom”. And by Strong’s concordance it is defined as completeness; wholeness; welfare; health. The root meaning of the word is “to be whole” or you might say, “nothing missing, nothing broken and nothing lacking” in your life.

Why would loving God’s law produce peace in your life? God’s word is alive; it is life and produces the same in our lives when, by the Holy Spirit, we ingest it into our spirit man. When we begin to live by God’s word we are changed. We are strengthened by the life that comes from the word and our minds are solidly placed on a firm foundation where the enemy cannot shake us.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:4: But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

What did He mean that we live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God? He meant that physical food is not the only thing necessary to sustain life in a human being. We have a physical man that needs to eat regularly for optimum health, but we also have an inner man, a spiritual man, that needs regular spiritual nourishment for optimum health that comes from ingesting the word of God; reading, studying and applying it to our lives. It is only as we make the word of God a priority in our lives and learn to live it that we will be able to fight off the fiery darts of the evil one. It is then that we are made strong so we do not stumble at his attacks.

Great peace; nothing missing, nothing broken and nothing missing in your life! Do you need more peace? Then get into the word; let it saturate deep down into your spirit. Make it a priority in your life. Study it, memorize it, speak it and live it!

Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified You word above all Your name.

The Psalmist here says that God has magnified His word above His name. When you magnify something you make it larger. When God’s word becomes larger in your life the problems that you experience become smaller. You begin to see your problems in light of God’s word and realize that the enemy has no power to stand against the truth of God’s word.

Jesus told His disciples in John 8:31, 32 that the way to being His disciples and being set free was by abiding in His word.

John 8:31, 32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Why would the truth of God’s word set a person free? Because there’s power in it!

John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

The word is given life by the Spirit of God. He has breathed His very own life into His word. When we read it and take it into our lives as our daily nourishment that life is placed within us. As believers, born of the Spirit of God through salvation, we live and thrive because of the breath of life that God has placed in His word.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The New Living Translation says in Hebrews 4:12 that “the word of God is full of living power.”

2 Timothy 3:16, 17 NLT All Scripture is inspired of God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.

The word of God fully equips us for whatever we need to do! It teaches us the right way to live and changes us! If you have lack in your life, get into the word of God and find out the promise that counteracts what you lack. Then begin to feed on it! Read every scripture you can find on what you are needing in your life. Soon you will notice a difference in the way you think about your situation. Then you’ll begin to speak differently about what’s happening in your life. And the end result will be a change in your situation. God’s word will work for you if you will work it!

Father, I thank You for Your word; for it’s life-giving power in my life. I know that Your word is true; it is living and active and that when I ingest it into my spirit being it changes me. Thank You for the power that I have received from loving it and learning it and living it in my life. I thank You that when I get into a situation where I need answers Your Spirit will speak a word from your word into my heart that I know will help with my problem. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for bringing the word back to my remembrance so I can defeat the enemy in my life. Thank You, Lord, for breathing Your life into Your word! I pray for my friends this morning who may lack peace in their lives. I pray that they will realize their need for Your word in order to flourish in every area of their lives. I pray that they may have “great peace”, Father, that comes from spending time in Your word. Bring it life for them, Holy Spirit, when they read it. Show them the nuggets of truth that they need to change their situations! Thank You, Father, for giving us the manna from Heaven for our spiritual nourishment! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Untapped Potential!

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

I’m fully convinced that we have no idea of the potential that is locked up inside of each one of us until we have to draw on the strength that God has placed within us. He has placed inside of each one of us His ability to accomplish the plan that He has for our lives and sometimes that requires what we feel is supernatural ability. It is only as we step out in faith and do what we think we can’t do that we experience His ability within us to succeed.

Abraham thought when God told him he would be the Father of many nations that it was a total impossibility but he placed his trust in God to do what only God could do. He had to step out in faith and do his part, but God worked the miracle through him. The potential to create a child was within him all the time, but until He believed God for it, it didn’t happen.

Romans 4:18-21 NLT When God promised Abraham that he would become the father of many nations, Abraham believed him. God had also said, “Your descendants will be as numerous as the stars,” even though such a promise seemed utterly impossible! And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though he knew that he was too old to be a father at the age of one hundred and that Sarah, his wife, had never been able to have children. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was absolutely convinced that God was able to do anything he promised.

Abraham knew that if God promised something that it didn’t matter how impossible it looked, He would do it. How many times have you been presented with an impossible situation that you knew you couldn’t do on your own? It’s in those times that as we spread our wings to fly we find the wind of God’s Spirit gets under us and carries us to the place that we need to go. It’s that dependence on the Lord that moves us from one place to the other. God is the God of impossibilities!

Zechariah 12:5 NLT And the clans of Judah will say to themselves, ‘The people of Jerusalem have found strength in the LORD Almighty, their God.

Jesus said in John 15:4, 5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

It is only as we abide, or live in Jesus, that we can unlock the potential that God has placed within us. He is the vine and we are the branches. The branch gets it’s nourishment from the vine. We draw our strength and nourishment from our relationship with the Lord. I woke up this morning with this phrase running through my mind: “Much prayer = Much power”! It is through interaction with Him through prayer and Bible study that we are filled with the ability to do all things. He is the Power Source and we must plug ourselves in to be able to live the way He wants us to live. Paul put it this way in Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

1 Corinthians 14:10 says: There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance.

Every voice that you hear has some significance of it’s own. There’s the voice of the Holy Spirit who will always lead you to Christ Jesus and the ability to succeed in the impossible. Then there’s the voice of the enemy, or the devil, that will always bring condemnation, negative thinking, fear and defeat. He always leads you away from the Lord. And then there is your own voice that always wants to please itself. The voice of the flesh cries out for self-gratification. The voice of the world wants to pull you away from what’s right and influence you to go along it’s way. Your friends are there to put in their opinion as well. But it’s the voice that you listen to the most that you will follow.

It is as you spend time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit through your relationship with Jesus that you will learn the voice to follow. If you follow His voice He will take you into the realm of the impossible. For without Him, you can do nothing!

Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand, Or whenever you turn to the left.

Father, I thank You for the voice of Your Spirit that leads us and guides us and gives us the strength to do those things that look to us as impossibilities. Thank You for Your supernatural ability within us to do over and above what we think we can do. Thank You for beginning the good work in us and for bringing it to completion. You are working in each one of us as we grow in our relationship with Jesus. Thank You for ushering us into the realm of the impossible. I pray for my friends, Father, that You will help them to look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of their faith. I pray that they will depend on Your Spirit to give them the ability to do what they think they can’t do. Lord, You are able to show them how to get things done in a way that they would not think as possible. Thank You, Lord, for showing them the supernatural ability that You have placed within them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
